The senior boys finally showed what they are capable of – beating old rivals Euroa by nine goals. In a scrappy first half the Lions were sloppy with the ball and gifted the Magpies some easy goals allowing them to stay in touch at the main break. The boys re-grouped at half time and came out firing, hitting targets and moving the ball through the middle of the ground with the forwards capitalising on the good work putting the game beyond doubt early in the last quarter. Cole and Meredith had the ball on a string with Hughey and Saady applying scoreboard pressure and the backs working hard all day.
The twos were up against the top side and knew they would have a fight on their hands. Up for the challenge the boys came out strong in the first half and showed why opposition sides won’t want to come up against them come finals – leading Euroa at the main break. The top placed Magpies put up a fight but the home side was too strong in the end and took out the game by 17 points. Dom, Brency and Trav were best on for the Lions showing their class with the football.
Finals were on the line again for the improving Under 18’s side, and again the boys answered the call dominating from start to finish knocking off the top side by almost 100 points. Matty finally had a full list to choose from and after a slow first quarter, the boys broke the shackles in the second to pile on the goals and only inaccurate kicking made it respectable for the Magpies. The pain didn’t stop in the second half with the boys adding a further 60 points and keeping their rivals to only one goal for the entire game. Chris Jackson dominated with strong support from O’Brien, Murphy and Demasi.

A Grade. Seymour 47 d Euroa 33. It was tipped as match of the round given the tight finish earlier this year. The Lions never looked in doubt though, showing why they are a game clear on top of the ladder, winning the first three quarters comfortably. To Euroa’s credit they never gave up and took full advantage of the Lions taking the foot off the pedal in the last to win the quarter. Casey Adamson worked hard in defence and Kath Knott shot well with 26 for the day.
B Grade. Seymour 48 d Euroa 19. It was a slow start from the Lions, with Euroa applying great defensive pressure in the first quarter, however, the flood gates opened in the second quarter and the girls dominated play putting the game beyond doubt going into half time. The remainder of the game was even but the Lions ran out comfortable winners. Tegan Hansen was best for the home side.
B Reserve. Seymour 45 d Euroa 41. The girls knew they would be in for a fight with Euroa desperately fighting for a finals spot. The opening quarter was an even affair, but just like the B Grade girls, they blew the game open in the second quarter. Euroa tried to fight back but the damage was done and the girls held on to run out four goal winners and will look to shoot into fourth position on the ladder next week. Sarah Brown shot a massive 36 goals for the Lions.
17 & Under. Seymour 41 d Euroa. Two young teams trying to find their way took to the netball court last weekend, but the Lions had the better of Euroa creating lots of scoring opportunities and turnovers from great pressure acts. It was a great win for the girls and their sixth for the season, only two games shy of finals at this stage. Meg O’Sullivan was best for the Lions.
