The reserves side put up a good fight last weekend before unfortunately going down by eight points. Kyabram came out of the blocks firing putting scoreboard pressure on the Lions, but the boys soon warmed up in the second to even up the scores going into half time. It was an even final half with the Lions getting their noses in front during the final quarter, only to let themselves down with undisciplined acts that allowed the Bombers to score a crucial goal. Unfortunately the boys weren’t able to pull back the margin, narrowly missing out on the second week of finals. Congratulations to Redda and all the boys on a great year. Brency was best on for the Lions.
The young Lions continued their stella form again last weekend knocking of Mooroopna by five goals in the elimination final. It was a slow start for the Lions who found themselves behind at the first break due to inaccurate kicking. The boys got it together in the second quarter and outscored the Cats to go into the main break only two goals behind. The second half was all the Lions as they ran and carried through the middle of the ground to deliver to the forwards who scored at will. Demasi and Murphy dominated and a special mention must go to the back six who were mega.

A Grade Qualifying Final – Shepp United 50 d Seymour 44
The 1 v 2 match lived up to all expectations with the Lions jumping to a three goal lead at quarter time, but the Demons fought back in the second to trial by just one at the main break. Milly Brock entered the game at half time and her height, along with Knott, proved to be a challenge for the opposition which helped the girls secure a three goal lead heading into the final term. However, the experience of the Demons shone through, applying relentless pressure to the young Lions to produce a massive 17 to 8 final quarter and snatch the win by six goals. Bec Kelly took home the AJ Baines award with Kath Knott and Sarah Douglas also among the best.
B Grade Qualifying Final – Echuca 49 d Seymour 45
The two teams hadn’t met since round 7, when the Lions went down by 14 goals. But Saturday the Lions proved why they are a top two side taking it up to the top team of the competition. The Lions came out firing early and looked like they had the momentum, however the Bombers were quick to pull back the lead and take a 4 goal lead into the main break. Some positional changes in the third unsettled the Lions and the girls found themselves 9 goals down at three quarter time. The Lions rallied in the final term and lifted their intensity to win the quarter 14 to 8, but unfortunately left their run too late. Renee Sari took home the AJ Baines award with Bec Bath, Abby Misiti and Tegan Hansen among the best.
B Reserve Elimination Final – Shepp Swans 49 d Seymour 35
It was a slow start that cost the Lions an early lead in last week’s elimination final against the Swans with the girls eventually going down. Despite having beaten the Swans twice this season, the Lions found a much more polished opponent and weren’t able to keep up with their intensity, battling hard to the end. Emily Martin and Sophie Gregson were best for the Lions. Well done girls on a great year and to make it into the finals.
