New recruit Bretty 'Mez' Meredith was put under the microscope this week to welcome him to the Lions Den and see what makes him tick.

Bretty came to us from Werribee last year after previously being on the Sydney Swans list for six years.

Here is what we found out -

What do you do outside of the club?
Currently completing a carpentry apprenticeship, basketball on a Tuesday night, but mostly just watching Seinfeld and Friends.

What year did you get drafted and what number did you go? Was drafted number 26 in 2007.

What was the biggest challenge of being in the AFL system?
Moving away from home so young, being away from friends and family - looking after myself. I first moved in with Jarrod Moore and Daniel O'Keefe which helped.

Biggest challenge footy wise was staying on the track fit and healthy. My injuries included a broken arm, three shoulders, collar bone and a broken hand which was frustrating.

Famous person you would most like to meet?
Michael Jordan

Win a premiership and become a legend off-field like Walshy and Aj

Bretty is loving his move to the Lions and I know we all can't wait to see him take the field against Benalla in Round One.
