In what seems to be a recurring theme, excluding Echuca, the young and injury ravaged Lions took it right up to top four placed Tatura. First gamers Cam Muir and Haz McLean stepped into the side seamlessly. After a poor first quarter which saw Tat skip away to a 16 point lead and the Lions only hitting the scoreboard once – it didn’t look good. However a pump up from Colby soon got the boys on track and the next three quarters showed the boys can match it with any side when they run and carry through the middle. At one stage late in the last quarter, only three points separated the two sides but Tat was able to hold off, taking out the game by just ten points. Jason Cole dominated with forty touches. The best also included Saady, Brando and Tommy Freeman.
Redda’s Reserves with their mix of old and young got back on the winners list with a great team effort. The Lions slowly but surely added scoreboard pressure at each of the breaks and then put Tat to the sword in the final quarter putting on five goals to one. Old timers Haberman, Gezza and a Ricky Misiti lead from the front with Jordy having his best game for the club kicking four majors.
The young Lions are back on track after two wins in a row with only percentage now keeping them out of finals contention. Our boy’s class and run was too much for the bottom placed Tatura who fought hard in the first quarter but were blown away in the next three. Evans, Binion and Adams were dominant for the home side.

The A grade Lions are building confidence with every week and stood tall against the Tatura girls to get some much needed percentage on the board. To the opposition’s credit, they never dropped their heads in the 68 goal loss and fought it out to the end. It was a solid win by the girls with Ellie, Rosie and Sarah all starring for the home side.
The B Grade girls had a strong win which shot them into third place on the ladder. The opening half saw the girls put on 32 goals to 6 to put the game beyond doubt at the main break. Jasmine Smith slotted back into the team nicely and played a great game in defence. Tegan and Abby controlled the mid-court and fed the young shooters who shot accurately all day. Alice O’Sullivan slotted 29 goals.
B Reserve also gained some needed percentage against the bottom placed Tatura side to lock down fifth position on the ladder. It was a long day for Tatura as the Lions mid-court dominated and Sarah Brown shot accurately with a total tally of 33 goals for the game. Andrea, Morgan and Emily were best for the Lions who ran out 42 goal winners.
The young Lions moved only one game out of finals contention on the weekend with a strong win. It was a slow start by both teams in the low scoring match. Claudia Cook was brilliant through the mid-court and defenders Bonnie Dawson and Georgie Engel kept Tatura to only nine goals for the game and scoreless in the last quarter. Tatura tried hard but the Lions did what they needed to get the win. Great work girls!
